A word about Lizzie Mcguire

So when I was younger I was really into the Disney channel. This was before Billy Ray's daughter was ever known for anything but being the child of a one hit wonder singer and the Jonas brothers finally became popular. No, this was back when the Disney channel aired television series like Boy meets world, Even Stevens, That's so Raven and Lizzie Mcguire. They were funny shows that were just what they were meant to be, television shows. It seems that today's new and improved Disney channel shows have taken over the world with shows like Hannah Montana, Zack & Cody, Cory in the house, Wizards of Waverly place and Jonas. It's getting out of hand if you ask me! Every where I go I see High school Musical, Camp rock, & Hannah Montana. It's about time for this to end and let the next cycle of shows have their turn. My point being, these earlier shows were not taking over the world, they were television shows that kids enjoyed. Sure they were popular, but not to such an extreme point.

Today, while flicking through then television channels I stopped on the Disney channel when I saw that Lizzie Mcguire was on. I was actually kind of excited to see this on television again, as this was one of my favorite, if not my very favorite television show from back in the day. It aired when I was 6 and ended when I was 10. Disney even released a Lizzie Mcguire movie in theaters as a way of rapping of the series and sending it out with boom before it is lied down to rest and finished with for good so to speak. I loved this show and even though I have only been alive for 13 years, it was one of those television shows that made me think about my early childhood, back when I was really little. So as I began watching the show I was thinking "This is going to be great, I haven't seen this in so long" but to my surprise, it was terrible!

Now the show ended in 2004 and since then Hillary Duff (Lizzie) has done a lot. She has been in some big time films, she has released some new records and she is a very talented actress if you ask me. But while watching this show now, in 2009, now that I am 13 years old and can see it from an older perspective, I can not understand how this roll as Lizzie Mcguire got her started. I wonder who saw this and said "Hm, we can make something of this girl" who??? If you ask me, this show is full of bad actors, including the adults on the show. The teenagers seem to be at least 15 or 16 years old but they act like they're 10. Looking back on it now, I think I enjoyed this so much as a little kid because I was not old enough to really tell a good actor from a bad actor, because these kids could not act to save their life, it was very unrealistic and hard to sit through.

All in all, I can't watch a show or a film from the Disney channel and go into it taking it seriously, it's the Disney channel! But have to say that today's Disney channel shows and movies have at least decent if not good actors.
